About Violet Evergarden

A girl who was raised as a weapon for the war is an “Auto Memories Doll” after the war is over.There she met many people whose emotions and love she expressed into words in letters.There are words Violet heard on the battlefield, which she cannot forget. These words were given to her by someone she holds dear, more than anyone else. She does not yet know their meaning but she searches to find it.

Review

Violet Evergarden is for me one of the best anime I’ve ever watched because it perfectly fits my taste in all categories.

Like I already mentioned, Violet Evergarden is a girl which got taught to fight in a war.

Because of that she lost not only both of her arms but also her understanding of love and emotions. As the war ended she had “no function” in the world because she only knew how to fight and kill enemies.

But instead on giving up, she wants to know the meaning of the last words she heared from a very important person she lost in the war. To achieve this she got a job from a friend of her Major which died in the war, to be an “Auto Memories Doll”. Their job is it to convert all the emotions and feelings of her customers into words which reaches the readers heart.

And the way how she writes those letters is just amazing. Even tho she doesn’t understand what love is, she write those letters for the people so awesome and handsome that even a princess hires her. With only her words, Violet managed to get those two together and they fall in love to each other.

In this episode Violet learned a lot about the feeling of love and brought her closer to her goal to understand what “I love you” means. Especially this episode made me cry out of happiness. The anime manages so well with its animation and the soundtrack to give you the feeling as if you expirience it yourself.

Animation & Soundtrack

As you might have seen in the previous gifs already, the animation is not just quite nice but awesome in my view.

The colors, filters and overall the whole style really fits perfectly to the time in which the anime plays. The world is so colorful when the story plays in the present, but so gloomy if its about her past.

But not only the animation is awesome, the soundtrack is on such a high level and fits so good to the scenes.If you are interested to listen to it, I’ve created a Spotify Playlist with a few Songs of the anime.

Conclusion

This anime is awesome for both, people who are new into anime and people who watch anime for years already. I also rewatched it and it never got old, it still got out all the emotions I had as I first watched it.

It’s definitely worth a try, even if you are not so much into the genre Drama, Fantasy and Slice of Life.
