Mushoku Tensei triggers split feelings in me.
The development of the story towards the end of the first season really surprised me and I thought it was really good. I really liked how serious the anime became towards the end.
However, I’ve been on the verge of dropping the anime a few times because there are a few aspects that I didn’t really like about it. Everyone who knows me knows that I am a big fan of the Isekai genre. However, I don’t like Isekai when it gives everyone the same way over and over again for someone to die and then go to another world. So it is no different with the protagonist, Rudeus Greyrat. He dies saving a girl from a truck. I found that a bit boring, but in the end it all comes down to the story that develops in the new world.
Arriving in the new world, Rudeus (Rudy) first sees his parents. And after two minutes you realize how Rudy’s character is, respectively that he is perverted. In itself, I find such a thing is not bad and even find that a little ecchi is not so wrong. However, in this anime it is not just a little. The perversion of the protagonist pulls through the entire first season and does not decrease, but sometimes even more. A little bit is okay, but to overdo it I don’t think is very good. In episode 5, however, I found it quite violent that at the end of the episode a woman was raped in the tower and Rudy says nothing against it, but still looks at the woman smirking. Rudy only apologizes for having disturbed them and apparently doesn’t find it tragic that someone was forced before his eyes. And that is the point. As I said, a little ecchi in an anime is not so wrong, but not when it comes to something like rape. Also, almost every episode has someone having sex, which didn’t really make it an exciting isekai anime for me.
Rudy // Already lewd as baby
I still continued watching the anime and didn’t regret it towards the end of season 1. Apart from the sexual assaults and the constantly perverted thoughts of Rudy, the anime can really be seen.
Rudy quickly learned how to use magic and he has a great talent for it, because he can better understand magic with the help of the knowledge he has from the old world.
Rudy // perfoming magic
For me, the story was from the end of the 8th episode really exciting. From episode 9, he even meets one of the gods, which has been watching the life of Rudy. When he wakes up again, he meets a Spelled. What I find really good here is that he still keeps a cool head and does not run away screaming, but is also responsible for his companion Eris Boreas Greyrat. For Spelled are considered in the world for the most dangerous and callous creatures ever, which kill you immediately if you just look at them. However, it turns out that the rumor does not seem to be true at all. On the contrary, the Spelled helps Rudy and Eris.
Spelled // Ruijerd Superdia
One notices how Rudy has developed. In his former life he would not have cared for others and would probably have run away screaming when he met the Spelled. However, he has changed quite a bit in the new world and now does things differently.
I really enjoyed the first season, even though the first half dragged at times. I’m looking forward to the second season and hope it stays as exciting.
